| Padres 'Ticket Marketplace' Allows Season Ticketholdes to Sell Single Tickets April 2, 2004 The San Diego Padres announced an online marketplace Friday where season ticket holders can sell seats for games they don't plan to attend. Using the "Ticket Marketplace," season ticket holders will be able to sell their tickets auction-style or at a pre-established price and receive credit for the sale with the Padres, team officials said. "Marketplace also benefits the single-game ticket buyer as well," said Steve Violetta, Padres executive vice president/business affairs. "Since season ticket customers have some of the most desirable seats in Petco Park, on occasion, some of those seats will be available to the general public through Marketplace." Season ticket holders can apply the proceeds of their sale to next year's season ticket purchase, postseason games or have a refund check issued. Tickets must be posted 30 days before the date of the game and must be listed for at least the single game gate price. Only season ticket holders can post their tickets on the marketplace, but anyone can make a purchase, team officials said. Once a sale is complete, the tickets are immediately deactivated and the purchaser will receive unique bar code numbers that provide access to the game and the seat location. The Padres' home opener in the new 42,000-seat Petco Park is scheduled for Thursday against the San Francisco Giants. Article published by: KFMB.com
