The University of Alabama at Birmingham Partners with Paciolan to Sell Tickets Online

Irvine, CA (January 12, 2006) - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (U.A.B.) and Paciolan today announce their partnership to manage the athletic department’s ticketing operations. This partnership will empower U.A.B. fans to purchase singles tickets, season tickets, season renewals, and group packages online, through the U.A.B. branded website. The new ticketing solution will launch in April 2006.

Paciolan provides ticketing, fundraising, and marketing solutions that enable college athletics organizations to sell and manage their own tickets, fully eliminating the need for third-party distributors. By adopting “in-house” solutions, venues maintain exclusive control of their customer relationships, brand and revenue.

U.A.B.’s online sales channel will empower the box office to control their customers’ experience from purchase through redemption and offer tickets for athletics events at the university. By leveraging the Internet, the U.A.B. box office will reduce manual ticketing processes which will likely reduce labor costs associated with ticket fulfillment. Additionally, U.A.B. will be empowered to eliminate lines at the box office by driving ticket purchases online. This will provide better service to U.A.B. fans, while allowing the athletic department to focus on serving season ticket holders and VIP patrons.

“We are excited to partner with Paciolan and fully utilize their world-class online ticketing technology,” states Matt Wildt, Associate Athletic Director, at U.A.B. “After evaluating all of the major ticketing solutions, from both established providers and emerging ones, we decided to partner with Paciolan due to the depth of functionality as well as its longstanding commitment to college athletics,“ adds Wildt.

U.A.B. will implement a fully hosted Paciolan solution ensuring that the ticket office will always take advantage of the latest product enhancements. By utilizing Paciolan’s state-of-the-art hosting technology, U.A.B. significantly reduces their hardware and infrastructure investment and will manage a predictable, budget cycle for ticket operation expenses.

Not only will the ticketing department use Paciolan, but the development and sales organizations will as well. U.A.B. will utilize the Paciolan system to combine patron data from the University’s fund development system with ticket purchase history. This data will enable U.A.B. to create programs to reward loyal fans and donors, such as PSLs.

“We’re excited to partner with U.A.B.”, stated Dave Butler, C.E.O. of Paciolan. “U.A.B. selected Paciolan after extensively reviewing other ticketing providers. Their decision underscores Paciolan’s 25 year commitment to serving college athletics organizations now and well into the future.”
