Paciolan Pilots New Handheld Tech
Paciolan recently visited Pocono Raceway to do a field pilot with our new Android-based handheld scanner for Access Management, the Janam XT2+. Supported by our technology partnership with Janam, the XT2+ model provides powerful performance and industrial-strength durability, and most importantly an upgrade to modern mobile device technology.
During the Pocono 400 event on June 1-3, Paciolan brought several of the new XT2+ scanners to work alongside prior-generation devices for admission validation of tickets and credentials. The field test was a great success, and venue staff gave lots of positive feedback about easy handling, screen display, and application usability. The scanners performed admirably in the elements at this outdoor event, working in dusty and bright, sunny conditions with minimal screen glare. In areas historically prone to WiFi signal impacts, Paciolan testers observed stable, consistent connectivity. And even with an all-day schedule, none of the test devices drained their battery power.
Technology transition to Android provides a familiar and intuitive smartphone user interface, regular security updates, and a scalable platform for adding enhanced capabilities to Paciolan’s Access Management solution. The XT2+ scanners are shock-resistant and sealed for environmental protection, use a high-speed 1D/2D imager for barcode scanning, and have RFID/NFC and magnetic stripe readers integrated directly on the device. Best of all, they are compatible to use side-by-side with other Paciolan scanners and the current Access Management system.
