An Afternoon with Agentforce

AI is rapidly changing the way we all work, live, and interact with the world around us. It seems like almost every day, there is a new tool that leverages AI to make us more efficient or unlock new insights. One of these tools is Agentforce, Salesforce’s new product that puts the power of AI in your hands through point and click applications. To get a better understanding of what Agentforce can do and how it may be of use to the Pac Salesforce community, Pac Admins Harrison Gore and Christopher Carney recently attended a hands on Agentforce workshop.
The workshop brought together Salesforce admins, developers, and users from all over Southern California. There were 3 main portions of the training – learning what Agentforce actually is, building out an Agentforce agent, and then brainstorming possible use cases to bring back to your organization.

At its core, Agentforce is an AI tool built on the Salesforce platform that is entirely trained on your data and contained withing your specific Salesforce instance. It is built to be accessible to all, from those with knowledge of code whatsoever to expert developers. Out of the box, you can have agents (individual AI bots with specific instructions and jobs) to do things like prospect leads, respond to service issues, or streamline internal processes. Building an agent is easy – you start with giving it plain language instructions about what I can and cannot do, then give it the ability to do those things through normal Salesforce actions – i.e. Open a new opportunity, send an email, etc. In the workshop, we were able to build an agent for a fictional vacation resort that a guest could chat with to ask about their upcoming reservations, make adjustments, and update contact information. The best part about this is that we were able to do all of this without writing any code. As Salesforce continues to expand what Agents can do, they will definitely become another integral tool in the Salesforce tool box.
